We arrived in Aswan and were reunited with our luggage, checked into hotel overlookig the Nile then took a sunset feluka sail. Very relaxing end to a day that started at 2:30AM.
The next day we took boat ride out to the Philae Temple, relocated to an island when the high dam was built. We then boarded our Nile cruiser, the "Serenade" and set off down the river. Our first stop was the Temple of Kom Ombu at about 9 o'clock at night. It is a very large and well preserved site with many interesting facets......apparently! Unfortunatly, we had no idea we were to be stopping anywhere that late at night and the combination of afternoon beers on the sun deck, sunset drinkies and wine with dinner, our guide may as well been talking to us in swahili. The photos look nice. Also, we might have lost Daniel for a while.
The next morning the boat docked at Edfu and we got to look at a temple in the daylight and sober.
Later that day we stopped while we were at lunch and by the time we worked out where we were, the boat was due to leave in 15 minutes. No worries, the temple is only 200 metres away. We managed to convince the concierge that that was ample time for us to have a gander at the temple and be back safely on board. Whislt Daniel and Morgan remained on the boat (another temple? No thanks) Kathy and myself dropped our shoulders through the touts and briskly made our way to the temple.
Imagine our suprise when we arrived back with at least 40 seconds to spare, only to see the boat pulling away from the dock with Daniel giggling and shouting excitedly from the top deck. Morgan was dealing with the stress of it all in her own way, by watching TV.
The boat was only tricking, it came back.
