As a special celebration of our survival, I booked us all on to a overnight bus to Pamukkale......on New Years Eve!
Kath celebrated the arrival of the new year by cracking open a bottle of soda water and mouthing "Happy New Year" (didn't want to wake all the sleeping people on the bus) to me.
We arrived in Pamukkule at 6:30 in the morning on NYD and were met by Hoseyin the energenic new owner of Artemis Yoruk Hotel who fed us tea and coffee then sent us to bed. When we awoke, his family fed us breakfast and he drove us up to Heiropolis where we spent the day clambouring over the ruins and swimming in the natural heated springs (36 degC in and 0 degC out) amongst the ruins of the roman temple that used to occupy the site. It took me two goes to get out! I'm sure the 70 metre walk from the pool to the change rooms is pleasant in summer.
