We arrived in Paris and negotiated our way via train (oh my god, it's not going to stop at our station, what we do if it doesn't stop at our station?) and metro (are you sure this is the right one to get on?) and to our hotel (are you sure it's this way?) located next to Cimetire du Pere-Lachaise where Jim Morrison (Oscar Wilde, Chopin also) is buried (no, we don't want to visit him at night time!).
By the time we ventured out it was quite late and it was quiet on the streets. Most businesses were closed, streets were almost deserted and all the dog shit had frozen into inoffensive little rocks that lay beside the footpath. We found a cafe and, with the waitresses help, set about ordering from the menu we couldn't read or understand. We ended up with a pleasant, interesting meal with a bottle of Bordeaux. Salut!
We spent the next few days wandering the streets of Paris visiting the many sights this city has to offer
Avenue des Champs Elysees
Eiffel Tower
Place du Concorde
Louvre Museum
Sacre Coeur Basillica
Pantheon
Luxembourg Palace and Gardens
Notre Dame
knocking back snails, frogs legs and Bordeaux wines.....well probably mostly wine...actually no snails or frogs legs at all.
