Having had enough of Ephesus, we awoke early and alighted upon another bus to Bergama, checked in to our pension and immediatly set off in a taxi to the ruins of the Acropolis of Pergamon. It is an amazing site, perched high on a hill overlooking the town of Bergama. With dark rain clouds looming, I confidently led my family off the marked trail, down a goat track whick I was sure was a short cut. It may have taken us a little longer than the path, but it was more interesting and it did lead us to where we needed to be.....eventually (a big thank you to the Guardia who let us out the rarely used "bottom exit").
After weaving our way out of the narrow streets and alleyways below the Acropolis, we emerged at the Red Basillica which Morgan renamed the Red Pissillica after catching Daniel trying to sneak a leak up against the sacred walls.
